  • BUG: AD-ASTRA and HCS-ASTRA both active.

I am running AD-ASTRA v0.05 Alpha, with the released HCS Voicepack ASTRA and the "Personal Responses" add-on.

AD-ASTRA seems to "over-speak" the released HCS Voicepack ASTRA and the two combined and used at the same time seem to trip over each other.

As a test, I disabled HCS Voicepack ASTRA using the "Customizer" by unchecking "ASTRA" and running it.

This seems to also disable "AD-ASTRA" as there was no voice output from this voicepack.

As an additional bug, AD-ASTRA is also not listed in the "Customizer" as a voicepack to be enabled or disabled.

My conclusion is that AD-ASTRA depends and requires HCS ASTRA to be purchased, loaded and running, or AD-ASTRA will not run or work.

There was nothing in the web based documentation about the need to own the HCS-ASTRA Voicepack before AD-ASTRA would work but with both active in VoiceAttack, it is difficult to tell if AD-ASTRA is actually working or giving different responses to voice commands since both voices are the same.

They seem to conflict with each other and the combination of both active at the same time is confusing when trying to interact with either.

Ad-Astra does not require owning Astra, they are independent of each other

Ad-Astra has it's own button and settings on the main page. She is not a crew member so is not on the crew button.

If you are getting overlapping sounds then please check in your VA audio settings that you have them set to use Integrated Components
The Singularity profile - One profile to rule them all and at HCS we bound them

You see, TheThingIs, eventually you'll be allright.

I have the same problem as Incryptx regarding Astra overtalking other AI's and usually at the same time as Ad-Astra. However I DO have the VA audio set to Integrated Components, and always have. The issue has persisted since I purchased the basic Astra and continued when I added Ad-Astra. Is there another setting that I should check?

If its to do with Sounds and Planets, we are aware of the issue, and suggest turning that off in game. Sounds and Planets is in process of being reworked (as that is one of the older parts now of the code)

Its in the Customiser, and will be labelled "Ad-Astra". If you have a blank space between Limpet Control and Extra Content, then you don't have Ad-ASTRA installed

Sorry, I never saw this. I have the button.

What I seem to need is to be able to disable ASTRA in the customiser to be able to test AD-ASTRA but when I disable it, the customiser claims there needs to be at least be one voice activated.

So, I have both ASTRA and AD-ASTRA activated and I do have "integrated components" enabled and both together talk over each other. I also tried using ARCHER and both seem to over-talk each other.

I'm not clear on what AD-ASTRA is supposed to add here. I also use EDDI which seems to give the same info as AD-ASTRA does, so is AD-ASTRA an HCS replacement for what EDDI offers?

Too many voices in the cockpit. EDDI, AD-ASTRA, ARCHER, ASTRA, MIDNIGHT, COVAS.

I need to pair down the voices here. HCS Voices are cool, and having a different voice for engineering, helm, navigation, ect... is all cool, but I don't need a cockpit full of voices relaying the same info.

I don't think anyone has considered how to limit the number of voices in use here and part of the problem is running too many. I mute COVAS in Elite because it's just annoying. EDDI seems to give me what I need for in-game information using the Windows TTS Voice and except for ASTRA in the background, that is already too many for me.

I don't know how many other users try to use too many voices, whatever the source, but for me, one would be enough provided it gave me the info I need. Frontier's COVAS should have been what HCS is, but because it is useless, It's just another annoying voice without an "off button".

My perfect solution would be to have AD-ASTRA give me what EDDI offers so that I could uninstall it and still get the same info. AD-ASTRA should complement ASTRA and not compete with it. So, if ASTRA is present, AD-ASTRA should have some logic to disable voice commands provided by ASTRA or at the very least, disable ASTRA from responding.

In conclusion, it should be possible to use ONE HCS VOICE only and have AD-ASTRA provide the AI logic to that voice providing all the information needed to that voice, instead of being a copy of the ASTRA voicepack with more AI.

it is possible, just assign all stations to one pack. Ad-Astra does not need to complement Astra. Even though they use the same voice, they are separate and do different things. What you set on your crew is up to you, you control who you hear. I don't understand any of your issues. Eddi has nothing to do with us!

Should also be noted: the COVAS in ED can be muted. *GENERALLY* speaking, I think that the issue here is that Stars and Planets in ASTRA is clashing with the Information that AD-ASTRA can give (hence the overlapping). So in this case you can disable "Stars and Planets" in the Customiser (or say "Disable Stars and Planets").

There will be clashing between EDDI and our plugin/AD-ASTRA, but that is because there is no plugin to plugin "messaging" to ensure that only one of them speaks at any point in time.

Or as a temporary and possibly annoying solution, you can say ................ Stop Talking ............... and they will all shut up.

                      I hope that helps.
