I am not 100% sure on what we use ourselves, but I know that Audacity can help achieve the effect. The bonus side for Audacity is that it is free.
    1) I reject your reality.... and substitute my own
    2) Not to be used when upset... will void warranty
    3) Stoke me a clipper i will be back for dinner
    4) Never tell Gangrel to do anything... he will probably get it wrong

I'll give audacity a whack, are there any paid services for writing a custom profile? (With audacity i could sort the recordings myself).

Trying to make my wifes life easier (car accident 6months ago), got homeseer to control most things but thinking of using VA for feedback.

      Things to control:
Kodi, spotify, reading weather, google cal events, shopping list, reading up news etc everday life things thats almost a chore for her atm.

Been looking on your voicepackages and even if i reverse engineer em and add other responses its kinda like reinventing the wheel esp. Since there is chance that others with similar problems can benefit from what im trying to achieve here.

There are no (as far as I am aware) paid services for a custom profile. Although I am sure that asking over on the Voice Attack forums that you might be able to get some help for it.

The easiest thing to do, ideally, is to work out *exactly* what you want to happen for each command, in a step by step basis. Some of them are easier to do (media controls) compared to working as a screen reader (for the weather/news articles) which might not be exactly suitable for Voice Attack itself. You are more likely to get help if you go and say "I am trying to achieve X goal. I have tried X/Y/Z, here is a profile showing it, can someone help me out with A/B/C issue".

The crowd over there seems to be far more open to *helping users* help themselves, instead of doing all the work for the user. That isn't to say that someone won't do that, but that most of the regular posters seem to be more "Here is how you do it, if you get stuck, just ask for more help".

So for example when asking for help, be as precise as you can .

        KODI: Swap between audio/video library selection; play/pause/next file/previous file/Fast forward/Rewind file; bring up show information[1];
Spotify: Load up specific playlist, play/pause next/previous track [1]

And then for each of those steps I would then *work out* what keys would need to be pressed to achieve that goal.

Now that is just for the "most basic" form of interaction (Say a command, it does a single action), whilst the "longer" commands would take longer/more logic needed.

[1] Just so you are aware, Voice Attack can press media hot keys that you find on some keyboards, you just need to enable global hotkeys in the application and set the "input method" in Voice Attack to standard for the media keys instead of as "DirectX mode" (which is for games).

yeah you dont think "you guys" would take on such job?
Someone is bound to do it for money i guess.

Anyhow next question, is there any way you can think of where VA can recognize a command or phrase as unrecognized and have a trigger on that?
I need a trigger to "record" or write down the phrases it doesnt understand or have programmed.

You can expand the voice attack window to show successful/unrecognised phrases and also right click on it to change the number of entries it tracks. it might only be a Voice Attack beta option though for the last part (change the number of entries).

If you click the "profile options" option (the Tick mark next to the profile name) there is the option to execute a command whenever a phrase is not recognised. I am not 100% sure if there is the option for VA to right this out to a log file directly though.
