  • Ship Description write ups.

Will be posting each of my write ups for the ships, will be amending them as needed to keep them up to date or to improve the information they give to the user.
These will be mostly general information along with basic info pre-purchase of the ship as well as anything else that might be needed to know.

These posts are written for the Astra voice pack and will be compiled for the Astra voice pack.

Spelling will be sorted out as well when pointed out.

The Zorgon Peterson Adder is is respectable craft that is fairly armed and makes an ideal general purpose ship, while it's an old design, it has still proven to be useful for pilots.

    -----

The Adder is a design dating back to 2914 when it was originally built by Outworld Workshops, as a general purpose ship it can fit into many roles like the larger deLacy Cobra making it fit in a niche as a stepping stone for pilots working their way towards the Cobra, it's jump range also makes it a potential exploration ship.

    -----

At 88,000 CR, the Adder is on the cheap end of the market and is generally common to find in shipyards, this small craft comes with one medium and two small weapon hardpoints and two utility mounts, it comes with two size three, two size two and one size one internal compartments which gives the ship a fair amount of flexability, the ship's shield generator is housed in a size three bay.

The ship will feel generally as mobile as the deLacy Sidewinder however it's larger mass will make it feel slightly more sluggish, the main issue with the Adder is the limited view from the cockpit that mark it down for explorers that enjoy a good view. Otherwise the ship is potentially viable in dogfights as well being a useful ship to start off a career in mining due to being able to fit a Class two Mining Laser.

The pride of the Faulcon deLacy shipyards, the Anaconda is one of the largest ships independant pilots can own, it's intimidating defences and expansive internal compartments make it a very capable ship.

      -----

The Anaconda was originally manufactured in 2856 by RimLiner Galactic, after numerous mergers the design has weathered it all with few changes as it tops off the deLacy's selection of products. Due to how versatile the ship is, some smaller navies use the Anaconda in the light cruiser and frigate roles.

      -----

A new Anaconda will set a new owner back 147 million CR and cost several more to upgrade it, it's not common to see them in shipyards outside high population high tech stations. It includes two small, two medium, three large and amazingly a single huge weapon hardpoints along with eight utility mounts, the internals are one size seven, three each of size six, size five and size four and one size two.

Despite the huge price and running costs, the Anaconda is a ship to show respect to and brings with it a level of prestige, the ship while slow is still a large threat if it ever get's a firing solution on a target with it's array of weapons. The Anaconda also boasts a respectable jump range for it's size along with it's defences making it ideal for traders.

The Lakon Asp Explorer is a large multi-role craft designed for long range missions and is well suited for the role of exploration it's named for, however it is able to be used in other tasks.

        -----

The Asp Explorer was developed off the military model, the Asp mk 2 that entered service in 2878, this civilian model is now a licenced built product by Lakon Spaceways and is marketed in the multi-crewed range, for it's size the ship has a very generous jump range and fuel tank which allow the ship to travel long distances before refueling.

        -----

The Asp Explorer is on the market for roughly 6.7 million CR, it is more often found within higher tech systems. The ship is armed with two medium and four small weapon hardpoints along with four utility mounts, it's internal layout is one size six, one size five, three size three and two size two compartments, the ships shield generator is housed in a size five compartment.

The ship is often used for dedicated explorers due to it's open cockpit and it's jump capabilites where there are few ships that can keep up with it, however if used in other roles that it is able to do, there are often cheaper solutions like the Lakon Type-6 for bulk trading and the deLacy Cobra for combat, both cost far less in both price and running costs, however the Asp is still able to do both roles together with few issues.

The Faulcon deLacy Cobra mk III is a renowned classic and a favourite among many pilots, the ship is a perfect example of a multirole ship if fitted correctly despite the age of the design.

          -----

The Cobra mk 3 is a development of the original mark 1, larger and more capable, it became popular quickly. The design first manufactured by Cowell & McGrath Shipyard on Lave in 3100 the design has seen little change even since Faulcon deLacy rebranded it as one of their own after their take over of the company.

          -----

The Cobra costs around the 380,000 CR area and is in most shipyards, the stock ship has two medium and two small weapon hardpoints along with two utility mounts, under it's hull the ship generously gives you three size four and three size two internal compartments with one of the size four compartments housing the ship's shield generator.

The Cobra is the ideal jack of all trades if fitted wisely, it's cargo holds are large enough for serious trading while it's no slouch in the combat department either, it's reactor being larger than the deLacy Viper mk 3 allows it more freedom in what weapons to mount on it, however due to it's multirole nature the Cobra is a master of none as a specialised ship would be more effective for a particular role, however the Cobra does allow a pilot to be able to find a path for themselves with a reliable ship.

The Core Dynamics Eagle is one of the smallest jump capable ships available, the Eagle series has been so successful that versions have been built for both the Federal and Imperial Navies.

            -----

The Eagle mk 2 is the current model of these aglie fighters, however Core Dynamics are no longer building any more of these ships due to Short range fighter programmes from both of the major navies. Core Dynamics are still producting parts and servicing for existing ships considering the popularity of the design.

            -----

The Eagle is on the market for roughly 45,000 CR, even though it's no longer in production it is still fairly common. As a small fighter it features three small weapon hardpoints and a single utility mount, it has a limited internal compartment selection consisting one each of size three, size two and size one compartments, the ships shield generator housed in the size three bay.

For the price, the Eagle is an effective short range fighter, however it has weak hard defences and is not very fast and relies on it's ability to out turn all other craft to keep it within blind spots. The Eagle being a combat specialized ship does suffer from power and heat issues and only truly shines when it is fully upgraded and in the hands of a pilot able to make the most of the ship's limited resources.

The Core Dynamics Federal Dropship is the workhorse for the Federal Navy's tactical and special forces deployments, it is a heavy armed and armoured vessel able to enter a number of hostile enviroments.

              -----

The Federal Dropship, being used to transport the hardware for special forces features a sizeable hold making it a versatile craft for any pilot looking for a ship able to venture into enemy space, however the ship was designed to meet the role required making the ship not as appealing despite it's capabilities.

              -----

A Federal Dropship costs roughly 20 million CR and is generally only found within Federation starports, it is armed with four medium and a single large weapon hardpoint backed up with four utility mounts, it's internal compartments are one size six, two size five, one size four, two size three and a single size two bays, the shield generator is within a size five internal bay.

The Federation only allows pilots that have attained the rank of Ensign to be able to buy this ship, setting back how common this ship is used outside of Naval service, however while it's not very maneuveable, it's well placed weapons and thick armour make it have a role within engagements when supported by smaller ships to cover it's weak spots as it spearheads an attack and continues to press forward.

The Zorgon Peterson Fer-de-Lance is another classic design that has survived the ages due to it's popularity with the wealthy who want a tough and dependable combat ship while offering a higher level of comfort.

                -----

The Fer-de-Lance is a heavily armed and armoured combat craft that has been in production for years by Zorgon Peterson, however recent models have been refitted by Saud Kruger in a rare collaboration that improves the interior of the ship without compromising it's external looks or it's combat specifications.

                -----

This Luxurious warship is priced at around 51.5 million CR and is quite uncommon to see in many shipyards outside the richer systems. This ship is armed with four medium weapon hardpoints topped off with a single huge weapon hardpoint with six utility mounts, it has one size five, two size four, one size two and one size one internal bays, it's shields are in a size four compartment.

With it's heavy armour this ship can take a fair beating that other ships would crumble under, however as a combat designed ship is suffers from traditional fighter issues of power supply problems, however heat should be more manageable, the huge hardpoint should most likely not be treated as the main weapon due to most huge weapons being power hungry but more as either a starting attack weapon or a powerful finisher.

The Zorgon Peterson Hauler is an entry level freighter for pilots starting a career in trading due to it's large hold for it's size and cheap price and running costs, despite it's meagre armament.

                  -----

The Hauler is Zorgon's push into the entry freighter market, which has lead to a huge success for them making the Hauler a common sight in civilized space and popular among traders as a starter ship. For it's price the ship also features a respectable jump range giving it a use in long distance rare goods trade runs.

                  -----

The Hauler is sold at roughly 53,000 CR depending on the retailer and is quite common to find in shipyards given it's popularity. The ship only comes with the single small weapon hardpoint for defence as well as two utility mounts for extra gear. It's internal layout is two size three, one size two and one size one compartments, the ships shield generator is housed in the size two bay.

While the Hauler might seem at first to be outclassed by the larger Adder, it does feature a greater jump range as well as being cheaper to run and fit. With this jump range the Hauler has also found it's way into being used for explorers and miners, however the Hauler is not fit to be used in combat as it's single weapon hardpoint and weak hull armour put it at a serious disadvantage against ships designed for combat.

The Gutamaya Imperial Clipper, a ship that epitomises elegance and style while delivering strength, this luxurous ship is used to transport important items and personal across Empire space.

                    -----

The Imperial Clipper is a fairly new design from Gutamaya, however it's sleek lines and organic feel make it a ship that demands to be seen where ever it goes, however under it's beauty is a heavy armament that packs a powerful punch and it's large engines give it a very respectable speed given the size of the craft.

                    -----

To those eligable to buy the Imperial Clipper, it costs around 22.3 million credits, even inside Empire space it is not very common. It comes with two large and two medium weapon hardpoints and four utility mounts, it has one size seven, one size six, two each of size four, size three and size two internal compartments, the shield generator housed in the size seven compartment.

Unfortunatly the ship is limited to only those pilots who gain the Imperial Naval rank of Baron, however the ship is prized among pilots who appreicate the ship's superb defenses and cargo capacity, the ship is also popular with Explorers due to the unobstructed view from the cockpit, the ship's interior and exterior are highly polished one could expect from a ship built by the Gutamaya Corporation's shipyards.

The Saud Kruger Orca is a large passenger liner designed for extreme comfort and style for it's passengers before all else, the ship is sleek and fast for it's size to deliver VIPs to their destination promptly.

                      -----

The Orca is the largest non-custom built design that Saud Kruger have on offer, it has a wide and open layout with windows lining the ship's outer surfaces, no expense is spared for the level of comfort in the interior with decorative panelling and lighting for crew and passengers, a hallmark for all ships with the Saud Kruger name.

                      -----

This beautiful ship is priced at around 48.6 million CR, this ship is rarely sold in the less well off systems, limiting it to the richer core worlds. The Orca is defended by one large and two medium weapon hardpoints and has four utility mounts, it has one size six, three size five, one size four, one size three and two size two interal bays, the ship's shields are in a size five bay.

This elegent vessel is mostly used for transportation of first-class passengers and VIPs, however it can be used to transport valuable cargo as well. In combat this ship is only just able to defend itself due to all the weapon hardpoints being along the bottom of the hull making defence against multiple attackers problematic due to the large blind spot. Rolling techniques are advised to keep the armed side facing the target.

The Faulcon deLacy Python is a sturdy yet slow ship and with other deLacy designs it is able to fill in a number of roles from low end military to mid range bulk transport allin the same package.

                        -----

The Venerable Python was originally made by Whatt and Pritney Ship Constructions in 2700 the design has lasted the test of time and is still fairly popular with pilots, with smaller Navies the Python is used as a Patrol ship due to it's well armoured hull and ample weapon hardpoints and despite it's size is fairly maneuveable.

                        -----

The Python is sold generally around the 57 million CR mark, it is uncommon outside of high tech stations, being a larger ship, it boasts an impressive armament of three large and two medium weapon hardpoints along with four utility mounts, within the Python there are three size 6, two size five, one size four, two size three and one size two internal compartments.

The ship is quite able to stand toe-to-toe with the larger deLacy Anaconda in combat yet just about mobile enough to keep up with some of the smaller craft, it's cargo hold also makes it a good contender for bulk transport, however it's high operating costs do hamper it's potental uses for most pilots, it can still be considered a cheaper option to the deLacy Anaconda for combat or Lakon Spaceways Type 9 Heavy for cargo.

The Faulcon deLacy Sidewinder is the ship most pilots use when they start off their careers, while it is a small craft, it has the potentional to find a use in a number of roles.

                          -----

The Sidewinder mk 1, or otherwise affectionally known as the Sidey, is a classic design dating back to the year 2982, while originally it was designed as a light support ship with no jump capability, over the years, newer compact drives have given new life into the design making it quite well rounded for it's price.

                          -----

A new Sidewinder costs around 32,000 CR depending on where you buy one and is common in most shipyards around Civilized space. While it is a small ship, in it's stock configuration it comes with two small weapon hardpoints and two utility mounts, and has one size one and two size two internal compartments, with one of the size two being the ship's shield generator.

Although the ship is cheap, it is much more than worthless or harmless as with little tweaking it can perform most roles with little trouble except when bulk transport is needed. In combat the ship is very maneuveable, only being bested by the Core Dynamics Eagle, however most craft can outgun it, so when using a Sidewinder in combat, the prefered method is up close and in larger ship's blind spots.

The Lakon Type-6 Transporter is the smallest commercially available craft from Lakon Spaceways, while it is not very glamourous, it is a capable freighter for any pilot wishing to do bulk trading.

                            -----

The Type-6 is a fairly new design when compaired to other ships within known space, it is a purpose built craft which limits it's uses outside of it's comfort zone, the Type-6 is known for it's generous jump range for a dedicated cargo transport, nearly rivaling another Lakon product, the Asp Explorer, making the Type-6 ideal for long range trading.

                            -----

The Type-6 is sold roughly around the 1,046,000 CR mark and is moderatelly common in most shipyards. The ship comes with two small weapon hardpoints and three utility mounts, it also has two size five and size four compartments, one size three and two size two internal compartments, the shield generator being in the size three, fitted for max capacity, the ship can hold 112 tons.

The ship is the cheapest bulk transporter on the market, however it is only suited for that task as it's ill suited for combat due to it's limited defence and maneuveablity, while purpose built for trading, surprisingly the ship when fitted correctly can make a cheaper alternative to the Asp for Exploration, however it does suffer from heat issues when fuel scooping making it less than ideal for the role.

The Lakon Type-7 Transport is a mid-range cargo freighter that has a light defensive armament but has a ample internal compartment loadout allowing it to be used in bulk cargo trading.

                              -----

The Type-7 is a very new design to come out of the Lakon Spaceway's shipyards, being released in 3290, it is one of the many dedicated freighters produced by the company, while it is very well designed for it's intended role, it does not have much use outside of it's comfort zone, it's maintaince costs are fairly low however.

                              -----

A new Type-7 will set a new owner back by 17.5 million CR and is mostly uncommon outside of high tech systems. The ship comes with pityful defense of four small weapon hardpoints and four utility mounts, however it's compliment of two each of size size, size five, size four and size two bays make up for that to give a max total of 232 tons of cargo, the shield generator is housed in a size four bay.

As with the other dedicated freighters, the Type-7 has very little use outside of it's intended role, and with it's weak armament it should avoid combat entirely. While the ship is a mid-range cargo transport the ship can only use large docking pads which limit it's potental trade routes to only the built up starports, if a trader that wishes to still be able to use outposts, the smaller Type-6 would be a better option.
