  • Leo - Missing sound file

Not strictly a bug, so I've posted here. This is just to let you know that the sound file "my name is.wav" is missing from the Leo pack. It should be in the 'role' folder of the voice pack.

It has not been mistakenly stored elsewhere in the pack,

This means that the ((RS-Name)) hooking command is broken, which is used by the "What is your name; What's your name; What do i call you", triggering commands.

As a stop-gap, I have edit the command to use the sound file - hcspack-LEO\Applications\Leo online.wav

    Cheers

Same issue, the file is certainly missing! Searched through all directories incase it was misplaced but no luck.

Mmmmm it's a brand new release already @ 1.64, can you not just update the current package attached to our download links, and pop the file into it?

It's probably the first question everyone asks after install, to test it's working, "What is your name?"

1.65 maybe some time away ......

        Cheers

My issue is the 'install/setup' program that comes with Leo. It will not let me install it where my other packs, and my original voicepack, are installed, but insists on installing it on my C: drive. I can't even 'browse' to the right location. My C: drive is an SSD which is just big enough for the OS, so I never install programs there. Is it just me?

Yeah you're right, the option is not in the Leo pack installer. It just going straight to the Voice Attack folder on the C: drive (though it doesn't even tell you that), with no option to change the destination. Mine is an SSD too but big enough for VA etc.

Of course you can install it to it's default on C drive, then copy and paste the files to where you have your packs installed. After that you can uninstall it from your control panel, because you only needed the files. The sound files are referenced relative to the VA install (sound folder), and not to the hard drive, so you should be good to go.

I found this out by chance as once Leo was installed and didn't work I went back to Astra etc., and they were working fine, so I copied the whole folder to where the other voice packs were and bingo! It's not a big issue for me as I guess these are some of the things we will 'learn' as we go along, but they can be quite frustrating for a newbie or someone not technically savvy. Probably worth including this in a 'tips & tricks' or 'troubleshooting' forum/topic.

I think the installer just needs fixing.

When the packs are assembled into the setup.exe installer, there is probably an option to allow a change of the install folder, and that option wasn't ticked. After all, the option is there in the other packs.

Unless this is new thing that was done on purpose, because I don't know if MARS and Z have the same missing install option (yet )

Yes, you are probably right although the installer does allow for a change of location but only to a different folder on the C: Drive.
Don't know about MARS but Z installs the same as LEO

I thought the install instructions advised not to mess with the install paths else it would not work ?

So I let all install on default C:

Would have honestly preferred another drive but oh well.

                    * OH and regarding the missing name file *

I was thinking, and tempted to get onto YouTube and sample a reference from HOLLY off Red Dwarf and stick that in. Naughty but feasible I expect.

We are looking into ways of trying to make the installer smarter so that it will automagically install into the Sounds directory of the Voice Attack. In the meanwhile though, the guys have been told about this problem, and should flick the switch on the next installer set to allow you to choose where to install it.

Of course, in the meantime the "solution" if you can call it that is to let it install as normal and then just copy the "HCS-<pack name>" folder into the sounds directory of wherever you installed VoiceAttack.
