Large delay with voice commands

Hey guys, I'm new to both ED and voice attack and I've finished all my keybinds and setting up my joysticks. But I have one last issue that is doing my head in. There is a large delay from when VA registers my commands and when they are actually performed in-game. Then, VA painstakingly goes through each menu, stopping for like 2 seconds on each tab. Menu navigation looks nothing like what you see in the demos from HCS and it takes a good 3-5 secs to drop out of supercruise.

I've tried creating a new voice profile in windows, setting priority to high and reinstalling VA but that hasn't helped either. Any help would be much appreciated.

make sure VA's target is set to Active Window

sorry I read a bit further

The docking sequence and tabs are deliberatly slow for drama....you can speed it up in the keyboard settings in the customiser. Say "Protocol override customise my settings" and a window will pop up
