  • Need Help with pathing issue to custom binds folder

Greetings! I am new to voice command and am struggling with the install. Please see attached image as I walk through my issue. Voice command is installed on my D: drive and Elite is installed on my E: drive. I have confirmed that Eden is listening when I launch the game. She just does not perform any commands. I HAVE chosen a custom scheme within Elite. I have no files in the C:\Users directory that match what voice attack is looking for, nor can I find them on D or E. Lastly I have read the directions for install and have no idea where I would launch the customizer once I get things pointed to the proper directory. I also find it strange that it would be looking in Admin when I run elite while logged in as my local account, not my admin account. I know I am close to getting this to work but not quite there. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!

try running VoiceAttack not as admin

go into elite, pick one of the premade bind files in control options and make a change to it and you will see it's name change to custom

the customiser is opened by saying "protocol override customise my settings" which it does say there on your screenshot
The Singularity profile - One profile to rule them all and at HCS we bound them

You see, TheThingIs, eventually you'll be allright.

I have tried running Voice Attack not as Admin. Doesn't "work" - I don't get all the text shown in the screenshot. I have a made changes to a premade bind file and I run it as custom. That's not the issue. I still dont have anything in the Users directory under APPDATA - And yes I see it says say the text you quoted. But nothing happens. I was hoping there was a pull down or something somewhere. So I am still striking out. Is there no way to point voice attack to a drive other than c:

If you open up the customiser, and click "Keyboard control" it will have an entry for the path where it is looking at the binds....

Where does it say that it is looking for them?
        1) I reject your reality.... and substitute my own
        2) Not to be used when upset... will void warranty
        3) Stoke me a clipper i will be back for dinner
        4) Never tell Gangrel to do anything... he will probably get it wrong

Gangrel - look at the screen shot - it shows the whole path. basically C:\Users\Admin... But I have no such folders on C. D or E

The Thingls, do you have any other ideas since my post on the 1/17?

Do you have any custom control schemes already set up in Elite Dangerous?

If so, what is their location and are you running voice Attack as admin?

If no, go and make a change to your current control scheme, and then click apply.
Then go and look in %LocalAppData%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\ for them.

If you are running VA as admin, run as normal user instead

Thanks Gangrel. I am running a custom binding but when I save a change I do not find anything in the path described - Yet my stick changes are reflected - so I will go back and try again. Something weird going on here. I appreciate the patience.

Elite has a folder where custom binds files are kept. By default it's in the path shown in your screenshot above. Check that folder to see if the binds you have selected in Elite are located in there. If they aren't then it's somewhere else so you will need to find it and you will be able to input that path into the customiser. If your binds are in there then for some reason VoiceAttack cannot get access to that folder. Most likely due to some permission and security you have set up on your pc. You would need to resolve the permissioning problem and allow us to access that folder. Adding your user into the admin group on that pc would more than likely solve it.
