  • Question about bind mechanics

Hello all. I’m using an X-55 HOTAS for control. On in-game options, I chose the HCS X-55 profile for my binds. Now let me see if I can ask my question in an understandable manner.

The voice pack has a bind settings file that lets it know what buttons to push to execute commands in the game.

    1. Where is this file located. %Appdata% ?

    2. If I go into the in-game binding config and change around some of my joystick buttons, how will the voice pack understand the change?

For instance: If I remap one of my joystick buttons in-game, to move my ‘deploy scoop’ to a different joystick button, will the voice pack still deploy the scoop if I tell it to “deploy scoop” via voice command?

How can voice attack activate a joystick button? Wouldn’t there have to be a keyboard keybind as well?

I hope what I’m trying to ask makes sense.

    Thank so much!

What version of the Singularity Profile/HCSTools Plugin are you running? VA will tell you in its log window

    1) The HCS Binds file is located in "AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings"

    2) We only pay attention to keyboard presses and not joystick presses, and we update what keys are pressed when the plugin picks up on when the .binds files for teh selected control scheme is updated.

I go to the Singularity Customizer and look at my missing keybind report. It shows all the functions that do not have binds. Now I know I need to assign binds to these functions, but how do I do that?

        1. Do I use the Keybind creator in the Customizer? I actually did this, and I choose the proper profile in-game, but the customizer still says I'm missing binds.

        2. Do I do it in the in-game bind setting menu?

        3. Do I manually edit a file?

You can use the keybind creator, or the ingame menu. I personally use the ingame menu though, as I then know what to press if/when stuff goes squirrely

Thanks Gangrel. One more question. When i say Deploy Hardpoints, or Deploy Scoop, it does the action. But when I say Retract Hardpoints or Retract Scoop, it says the action is already completed. I have to say deploy again to get them to retract. Any idea why its doing that?

That sounds like a case of you having to run Voice Attack as admin. Frontier did something funky in the last update, concerning the file permissions. Not everyone needs to, but some people do (unless of course you are doing this in the tutorial, where ED doesn't write to the log, so we don't know the status of said modules... )
