Hi all
I have a new MacBook Pro (2019). I have a Windows partition using Bootcamp for Elite Dangerous, which runs fine from Steam. I use a Thrustmaster T.flight HOTAS 4, which also works well.
I got Voice Attack and HCS Voice Pack Leo with Singularity. I have had 2 voice recognition sessions in Windows, all fine.
I set up using HCS Thrustmaster Hotas 4 in customizer and in ED options I select that control scheme. Because the keyboard bindings are heavily reliant upon Windows keyboard, I remapped all the keyboard commands that I envisage using to a scheme that does not rely on any Windows only (eg Alt key) or Mac only (eg command key). Some, eg Wingman commands which I won't use, I leave as is.
I enter Windows, turn off Windows speech recognition bar, run Voice Attack - it gives me a clear green run of text messages, no missing keybinds, but the headset/mic logo shows the "no entry sign", so I click that and it says it is listening. I start ED and get into play.
Although the HCS voice occasionally responds to a command I give via keyboard or Hotas, it will not react to commands. I exit. Voice Attack box now has the "no entry" sign on the headset/mic icon, and the text box shows that it has a number of unrecognized commands, which bear no relation to the commands I tried to issue (which were all simple ones, eg quarter thrust"").
I am not using a headset/mic, just the external Apple microphone, which is working fine according to Control Panel.
I am guessing that the game noise coming from speakers is interfering with voice recognition, but before I invest in headset mic - am I doing anything wrong? Indeed, am I attempting something that can't be done for some reason of which I am unaware?
Thanks for any replies. Sorry to be such a noob!
