External mic not working in Voice attack

I have a Rode external mic as well as a headset boom mic that worked perfectly with Voice attack until last week. I could select in Voice attack whether l was using the headset or external mic and it would switch perfectly. Recently l can't get voice attack to use the external Rode mic. I know the mic works as l've tested it with other programs but it still won't recognise any speech in voice attack. I've just reinstalled Voice attack and no change and l've made sure it's updated as well. Any suggestions?
