voice pack set up per instructions, but still wont work

I just got voice attack and the orion pack for ED. I set it up according to the instructions, and yes all fields say custom. The VA recognizes my commands , it seems ... as long as the game is not active. but in game i get the error that the binds arent set even though the software set them. i tried clicking on the settings e.g. deploy hard point and saying hardpoint, and VA responds but no input is created. so please help? for the record auto launch command does work. how do i fix this ?

Did you restart VA after choosing the control scheme in game?\

(Note: you should only have to restart VA / swap VA profiles once you make changes to a control scheme in game. So once set up, you shouldn't have to do this all that often)

I did get it to work. I had the joystick enabled in joystick options. I disabled it, redid the custom settings, redid the protocol override, and now it works and my joystick works fine with out being enabled. I also restarted my computer a bunch
